Pralnia Magik

MES system for managing the laundry process

About the project

Magik Pralnia is a company providing professional laundry services to individual clients, businesses, and institutions. The project involved the creation of a dedicated MES (Manufacturing Execution System) to support the management of operational processes in the laundry.

The system was designed as a central platform enabling laundry production management, order processing, work planning and integration with devices used in daily operations.

The solution consists of a web application, a mobile application, and POS stations supporting work on the production floor. The system was designed in accordance with the WCAG 2.2 standard, ensuring an appropriate level of accessibility.

Business goal

The aim of the project was to create an intuitive and efficient MES system supporting the management of the laundry process.

The system was intended to enable:

  • laundry planning and task scheduling
  • handling customer orders
  • monitoring the efficiency of equipment and employees
  • collection and delivery logistics management
  • integration with devices used in the laundry process

The solution was also intended to be the foundation for the digitalization of operational processes in the enterprise.

Design challenges

One of the main challenges of the project was to maintain a balance between the functional scope of the system and the budget assumptions. and implementation schedule.

Due to the wide range of planned functionalities, it was necessary to define a precise scope of implementation in line with the project plan and the requirements resulting from the design documentation.

Thanks to efficient coordination between the development teams, the project manager, and the product owner, we managed to develop an implementation plan enabling the system to be delivered within the assumed timeframe.

Regular project meetings and ongoing team communication allowed for a quick response to any deviations from the schedule.

Our approach – scope of the solution

The system was designed as a central platform integrating various areas of the laundry’s operations. The project included the following:

  • Production planning system
    • schedule screen allowing you to plan laundry work
    • assigning tasks to specific days, drivers and customers
  • Reporting system
    • reports and statistics screen
    • analysis of employee and equipment performance
    • possibility of optimizing operational processes
  • Mobile application
    • handling drivers’ daily work
    • collection and delivery management
    • ability to take photos documenting the condition of supported products
  • POS system
    • operating workstations in the hall
    • integration with devices used in the laundry process

Architecture and technologies

Technology stack

  • Backend / API: Nest.js or .NET Framework
  • Frontend: React / Next.js
  • Mobile application: React Native
  • Database: PostgreSQL

The technologies have been selected to ensure high system performance, security and the possibility of further application development.

The solutions used are widely used in modern IT projects and allow for system development without the limitations of legacy technologies.

System architecture

The system was designed as a solution running in the customer’s local cloud.

The application operates in a client-server model and consists of a central administration platform providing API and handling communication between individual system elements.

The platform is communicated with, among others:

  • POS stations
  • mobile devices
  • printers
  • scales
  • RFID readers and gates
  • web browsers

All system elements are connected into a single infrastructure enabling the exchange of data between devices and applications.

Performance and safety

The system was implemented on-premises, on a server located within the client’s infrastructure. This solution allows for complete control over performance and hardware resources.

System performance is ensured by the use of modern technologies and current software versions.

The scalability of the solution was achieved through the appropriate design of the system architecture, which enables future expansion with additional workstations, devices and functionalities.

Implementation results
  • digitization of operational processes in the laundry
  • improvement of work planning and laundry production management
  • integration of devices used in everyday activities
  • creation of a central reporting and performance analysis system
  • preparation of technological infrastructure for further development of the system
